Operations Manager

Job title:  Operations Manager

Salary range:  £42,000 to £67,000

Responsible to:  Chief Executive

Final salary dependent on qualifications and experience. Benefits include free catered lunch, relocation assistance and free parking.

Reporting to the chief executive, the operations manager will be a key role, central to Castle Craig’s status as a centre of excellence, and its ambitions as a continuously developing and improving organisation.

The operations manager will champion, review and continuously develop the quality framework, healthcare governance and human resource governance at Castle Craig Hospital. The post-holder is a member of the hospital’s senior management team, and plays a key supporting role to the chief executive for ensuring the smooth and safe running of the hospital. The post holder works alongside other members of the senior management team to ensure effective delivery of the hospital’s governance and business development strategies.

The operations manager reports to and is accountable to the chief executive officer, who is also the registered hospital manager. The operations manager is the designated deputy hospital manager. He / she will help to ensure appropriate management cover for the hospital. In the absence of the hospital manager he / she will ensure the smooth running of the service in collaboration with the medical director.

The post-holder will communicate relevant matters to the hospital manager on a daily basis, and provide written activity reports as necessary, whilst reporting monthly to the clinical governance group.

Person Specification

 Essential

  • Masters degree or equivalent experience.

  • Previous experience and success in HR administration or management.

  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills for partnership working and staff governance.

  • Needs to be able to work effectively as a team member to achieve organisational goals.

  • The ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality with regard to patient, staff and corporate information.

  • Ability to prioritise and work flexibly to meet the organisation’s needs.

  • Ability to work under own initiative and be self-motivated.

  • Prepared to further their professional development and competencies through training and experiential learning.

  • Able to contribute to the strategic development of the hospital.

  • Must be comfortable with creating, monitoring, auditing and maintaining processes / procedures.

  • Needs to be able to stay calm when under pressure.

  • Needs to be able to apply common sense when dealing with unusual and challenging situations.

  • Due to the hospital’s location the post holder must be able to provide own transport and have a clean driving license.

  • Lives locally and is available as part of an on-call rota for urgent or emergency call-outs.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with Sage HR or similar software package.

  • Previous experience in this type of role.

  • Previous experience of line management in an operational setting.

  • Nursing or other healthcare background (not necessarily clinical).

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent.
